Bookings Terms & Conditions
Rest Up London. Sleep Where Stories Were Made.
Housed in Driscoll House, a century-old landmark in Zone 1 Elephant & Castle, Rest Up London combines institutional lodging history with a safe, budget-friendly, and vibrant hostel experience.
We provide more than simple, clean accommodation; we cultivate a welcoming, multi-cultural space where global travellers (primarily 18–40) can link up in our shared spaces, relax on the terrace, and feel right at home.
Founded on mutual respect, 24/7 care, and hassle-free living, our core value is to rest easy, connect deeply, and respect all, ensuring every guest enjoys a secure, inclusive, and unforgettable stay while writing the next chapter of our story together.
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-in is from 15:00. Early check-in may be available for an additional fee — please check with reception.
Check-out is by 10:00. A late check-out may be possible until 12:00, subject to availability and a fee. Later departures will require a new booking.
Guests must present a valid, physical, government-issued photo ID (passport, driving licence, or national ID) at check-in. Student cards, scans, photos, photocopies, and pictures are not accepted as proof of ID. Unfortunately, we cannot check you in without proper ID, and refunds will not be issued in such cases.
The name on your reservation must match the ID presented. If it doesn’t, please update your booking or make a new one. Note that refunds may not be available depending on your booking terms.
For your safety, we do not share the entrance gate code. Our 24/7 reception team is always available — just buzz and we’ll let you in.
Dorm Etiquette & Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM — please be mindful of others resting.
Use headphones for music or videos and keep noise to a minimum.
Be respectful of others’ privacy and space.
Please avoid using bright lights late at night or early in the morning.
Always close the dorm door behind you.
Please avoid intimate contact in shared spaces — let’s keep it comfortable and respectful for everyone.
In mixed dorms, guests must always be appropriately clothed. Nudity is not allowed.
Respect toward staff and fellow guests is always expected. Aggressive or disruptive behaviour may result in immediate removal without refund.
Neighbours
Rest Up London is situated within a residential neighbourhood, and we share our local community with nearby residents as well as guests sleeping on our upper floors. To ensure a peaceful stay for everyone, we ask that you respect our local neighbours and help us maintain positive relations with the community. Please keep street noise to a minimum, especially when moving in groups, and remain quiet when spending time in outdoor areas or outside the building late at night.
Damage and Property Care
Every guest should treat hostel facilities with care and respect. The cost of rectifying any damage to building structures, furniture, linen, or fixtures caused by any guest will be automatically calculated and appended as a surcharge directly to their bill.
Cleanliness & Personal Belongings
Keep your room and space tidy and clean. Please do not place items on other beds.
Lockers are not provided in rooms, but secure luggage storage is available at reception for a small fee.
Management is not liable for lost or damaged items — please secure your belongings responsibly.
No food or drinks (except water) are allowed in dorm rooms.
Smoking, vaping, or drinking is strictly prohibited inside the building. Designated smoking areas are available on the terrace (09:00–21:00) and outside the front entrance.
Violation of smoking or alcohol rules may result in a fine (up to £200).
Please don’t dry clothes on bunks, radiators, or in shared areas.
If you leave personal belongings in your room after check-out, we will store them for a maximum of three days. You must arrange collection within this time. After three days, any unclaimed items will be discarded.
Visitors
Only registered guests are allowed in the dorms.
Anyone found hosting outside visitors will be asked to leave immediately without refund. Any future bookings will be cancelled.
Room Assignments & Beds
Please only use the bed assigned to you. Switching beds or rooms without approval is not allowed. A £10 penalty fee will be charged if found in an unassigned bed.
Bed Allocations & Split Bookings
All beds are assigned individually, and we kindly ask every guest to use only their designated bed. If you are travelling with friends or family who booked individually, here at Rest Up we will do everything in our power to allocate you to the same room. However, due to availability, we cannot always guarantee you will be placed together and may occasionally need to split the booking.
If you would like to be kept together, please contact the property directly as soon as you book so our team can make every effort to accommodate your group.
Stay Duration & Extensions
Guests may stay a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. A minimum 3-month break is required before returning.
To extend your stay, please speak with reception before 10:00 AM on the day of check-out. Extensions depend on availability and may involve moving rooms.
Guests who overstay without a booking may be charged a late check-out fee.
Repeat violations of check-out rules may result in a ban from future stays.
Hygiene Standards
All guests are expected to maintain good personal hygiene, especially when using shared spaces. If a guest’s hygiene becomes disruptive to others, we reserve the right to ask them to vacate the premises.
Electric Bikes & Battery Charging Policy
For safety reasons, electric bikes and their batteries are not allowed anywhere on hostel premises. They pose a serious fire hazard and are therefore strictly prohibited.
Storing electric bikes inside rooms, hallways, or any common areas is not permitted.
Charging electric bike batteries within the hostel is strictly forbidden. Guests found violating this rule will be required to leave the hostel immediately, and a refund may not be issued.
We kindly ask you to respect this policy for your safety and the safety of all guests and staff.
Groups
Please note that group bookings account for approximately 50% of Rest Up Hostel’s activities and that the property welcomes students of all ages.
For many years, Rest Up has hosted groups and individual travellers from around the world, offering affordable accommodation in a welcoming, safe, and sociable environment.
Groups will share hostel facilities with other guests; mutual respect is required.
Groups have access to common areas until 10:00 PM, while quiet hours are enforced in the sleeping areas starting at 9:00 PM.
Age Restriction
To maintain our vibrant social atmosphere, our shared dormitories are designed for travellers aged under 40 only. Rest Up Hostel London primarily caters to youth, students and educational groups, backpackers and social travellers.
Due to the nature of our triple/double bunk beds and the high-energy social environment, guests over 40 are required to book private accommodation.
Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and are permitted to stay in private rooms only (not in shared dorms). Parents or legal guardians must present a valid, physical, government-issued photo ID (passport, driving licence, or national ID) of the guests under 18 years old at check-in. Unfortunately, we cannot check you in without proper ID, and refunds will not be issued in such cases.
Thank you for helping us create a peaceful and respectful space for all. If you have any questions, our friendly team at reception is here to help 24/7!
Thank you for your cooperation
